Child care: Ages 2 months to 3 years. Cost for infants 2–11 months, $79 for a full day with lunch; $62 for a half day. For toddlers 1–3 years old, $72 for a full day with lunch; $55 for a half day. Reservations are required; call (970) 728-7531 or (800) 801-4832 at least 24 hours in advance or make reservations at telluridekids.com. Children's ski and day-care programs are in the Village Nursery and Children's Center in the Mountain Village Activity Center. There's one staff person to every two infants and one staff person to every five toddlers. The activity center's glass kiosk atop the nursery's central playroom allows parents to peer down at their little ones without being seen.

Other options: Travelin' Tots (970-728-6618) is a retail store that rents cribs, linens, toys, joggers and more to avoid vacation packing hassles. Evening child care referrals are available.

Children's lessons: The Children's Ski & Snowboard School teaches kids ages 3–12 (snowboard lessons are offered for kids 7–12). Lessons, lift and lunch are $124 during regular season (Dec. 17, 2005–Jan. 1, 2006 and Feb. 17–April 2, 2006) and $105 during value season (Nov. 23–Dec. 16, 2005 and Jan. 2–Feb. 16, 2006) for a full day, with multiday discounts. With lessons, rentals cost an additional $20. Half-day lessons are available. Helmet rentals cost $7, but are included in the kids' rental package. Reservations are required for lessons; call (800) 801-4832 or make reservations at telluridekids.com.

Special activities: A supervised program called Afternoon Kids Club is available after ski school programs; it's free for those enrolled in ski school. It runs from 3–4 p.m. and reservations are required. Wildlife Day introduces kids to animals from the Rocky Mountain Ark, a wildlife rehabilitation facility and licensed non-profit organization. Kids are exposed to injured, rehabilitated wild animals in a safe, fun and informative environment. Houdini, a prairie dog, or Liberty, a bald eagle, are just a few of the creatures the children might encounter during lunch hour. Weekly and holiday story readings are held throughout the year at the Wilkinson Public Library.There are also computers with a selection of interactive CDs and Internet access (970-728-6613).
