SUNDANCE RESORT DINING PAGES

The choices are few, but all are very, very good. At mountain’s summit, with wowser 360-degree views, is Bearclaw’s Cabin, serving soups, sandwiches and drinks. Go early to snag a deck chair. Creekside at the mountain’s base, serves similar fare. Better choices are available at the Deli/Grocery, open daily from 7 am—10 pm for homemade soups, creative sandwiches, salads, and baked goods.

The barnlike Foundry Grill (223-4220; $$--$$$), decorated with old tools and a huge canvas of running horses, is open for breakfast, lunch, dinner and Sunday brunch. Seasonally influenced foods emerge from the wood-burning grill, pizza oven and rotisserie.

Sundance’s finest dining, and indeed, one that gains national acclaim, is The Tree Room (223-4200; $$$--$$$$), named for the tree it was built around. Soft light, a huge stone fireplace, blown glass tableware and selections from Redford’s personal collection of Native American and western art create a setting worthy of the fare.

Zagat's Survey 2005 America's Top Restaurants, The Tree Room received a 27 rating, which is defined as extraordinary to perfection. No. 1 rating for food among Utah restaurants. Along with high scores, Zagat's said the (Tree Room) "will make you weep with joy."

Stock up on groceries at one of the major supermarkets in Provo. The selection in the general store is limited and pricey.

There's also a wide variety of dining available in Salt Lake City.
