(Area Code 207)
Sugarloaf is a planned condominium
community. The central village blends in well with the overall environment.

of its private health spa, while the condos and Sugarloaf Inn include

Club (see Other Activities). Make reservations by calling either (800) 843-5623 or (800) 843-2732.
SKI AND STAY PACKAGES
The Grand Summit Resort Hotel ($$$$$$) is the centerpiece of the Alpine village. It has a small health club with indoor pool, restaurant and lounge. The slopeside Sugarloaf Inn ($$$$$)
has a New England inn ambiance.
Condominiums: More than 900 condo units are spread throughout the resort, all designed so skiers and snowboarders can slide back to their lodging. (Not all have lift access, but a shuttle runs from the lodging to the lifts.) Families like the Gondola Village units because
they are close to the state-licensed child-care facility, and the
Whiffletree quad servicing designated family skiing trails is right
outside the door. The Bigelow, Snowflower and Commons
units are more luxurious. Sugartree units offer easy access
to the health club, and Snowbrook has its own indoor pool. Timberwind has rather small units but boasts its own outdoor
hot tub, is just across the street from the fitness club and right
next to the midstation loading of the Snubber chairlift.
The resort has an RV parking area serviced by lifts. It costs
$10 per night, with electrical hook-up.
For more affordable lodging, try Kingfield, 15 miles south of the
mountain, or Stratton, 7 miles north. Three Stanley Avenue Bed
& Breakfast (265-5541; $), in Kingfield, is a Victorian-style
B&B, where six rooms have private or shared bath. In Stratton,
the Spillover Motel (246-6571; $) has clean rooms at reasonable
rates.
