First-timer packages: Learn-to-Ski or Ride clinics include lesson, lifts and rentals and cost $70 for the first day, $75 for the second (with mid-mountain access), and $80 for the third (all-mountain access). Call (888) 651-4827 for details.

Private lessons: $90 for one hour; $50 for each additional hour; $20 for each additional person.

Special programs: The Sugarbush Ski & Ride School offers multiday clinics for snowboarders, women and expert skiers or riders, and specialty classes (powder, bumps, etc.) in private lessons. Of special note, multiday clinics with extreme skier John Egan (now director of the ski school), Olympian Doug Lewis (now Olympian Ambassador), and Egan's X-Team Advanced Clinics.

Outback Tours take advanced skiers/riders off-piste into Lincoln Peak's Slide Brook Wilderness area for 2.5 hours when the natural snow coverage allows. Book through the Guest Service at Lincoln Peak. Cost: $40. Call (888) 651-4827 for reservations.
