Lessons (2009/10 prices)

Stratton has an on-mountain Adventure Center where you can try telemark skis, a snowboard, Snowblades or freeride skis designed for fun and tricks, especially in the halfpipe and terrain parks. Begin at Village Rentals in the Village Lodge in the Courtyard. From here, you’ll be sent on to the mountain to the rental tent to pick up your equipment, then finally up to the Ski & Snowboard School. Give yourself plenty of time or you’ll miss your lesson.

Group lessons: $45 for 1.75 hours.

First-timer package: For skiers, $89 includes beginner lift ticket, two 1.75-hour lessons and rental equipment. Snowboarders take the Burton Method Center Learn to Ride program, which also costs $89.

Private lessons: One hour costs $105 on holidays and $75 midweek. A half day costs $330 am and $315 pm on weekends/holidays and $239 am or $229 pm midweek. A full day costs $595 on weekends/holidays and $395 midweek. Most Saturdays cost $89 or $99 for an hour; $280 am and $265 pm for half days; and $495 for a full day. Special programs: Stratton has women's ski and snowboard camps during the season designed to boost confidence and enhance strength, style and technique.
