At
Stratton Mountain:
Verdé (297-9200;
$$-$$$) is the latest rave spot at Stratton. Entrees from
the Mediterranean grill include wild mushroom crespelle and zarzuella,
a Spanish fish stew.
Great Italian food is the main theme on the mountain, with Mulberry
Street (297-3065; $$) serving basic pastas and pizzas. Mulligans
(297-9293; $$) serves moderately priced, basic American fare with
a good kids menu in a loud, TV-in-every-corner atmosphere.
Luna (297-4036; $$-$$$) at the Stratton Mountain Club, is
open to the public for dinner by reservation. The Stone Chimney
Grille (297-2500) in the Stratton Mountain Inn specializes in
family dining, with steaks, seafood, and a salad bar.
At the Blue Moon Café (297-2093; $), breakfast goes
nouveau with an assortment of crepes and blue pancakes called Full
Moons.

Off the mountain:
At the base of the Stratton
access road are several good restaurants. Out Back at Winhall
River (297-3663; $$$), just south of the access road, has phenomenal
lobster bisque along with other casual fare. The Red Fox
(297-2488; $$-$$$) serves "Vermont" nouveau cuisine in
a restored barn.
The award-winning Three
Clock Inn (824-6327; $$$), in South Londonderry, brings a bit
of authentic Provence to the hills of Vermont. An upscale favorite
for Stratton regularsmany of whom owner/chef Serge Roche knows
by namethe inn has a wine collection in keeping with its gourmet
menu. The
Three Mountain Inn (800-532-9399 or 874-4140; $$$), in Jamaica,
has an intimate and elegant dining room. The lobster with saffron-champagne
butter and mushroom risotto is not to be missed.
The
Frogs Leap Inn (824-3019; $$$) serves creative meals by
candlelight. The
Garden Cafe (824-9574; $$$) has been serving upscale meals for
more than 15 years.
Jakes Cafe (824-6614;
$) serves pizzas and sandwiches. Johnny Seesaws (824-5533),
just down the road from Bromley, serves enormous portions and is
a perfect family spot.
