Mountain LayoutSnowboarding
The
resort's terrain is generally snowboarder-friendly, with a minimum
of crossover trails and relatively few spots that require unstrapping
and pushing. Riders can add some texture to the general cruising
nature of the main mountain by taking the short detour onto the
Knot Bumper/Glades combination off the Ball Hooter chair. The resort
stages a variety of competitions and other events throughout the
season, so keep an eye on the calendar.
Parks and
pipes
The Super Park at Silver Creek is spread across
seven trails: Timberjack, Mountaineer, Cascade, Fox Chase, Laurel
Run, Bear Claw and Buck Saw. This park includes a variety of aerial
features, rails and boxes. You'll also find a 400-foot halfpipe.
A boardercross course on Slaymaker and Spur includes gates, berms
and rollers.
On the Snowshoe side, skiers and boarders can hit
up the Spruce Glades Pro Park near the top of the Ballhooter lift.
The Pro Park at Spruce Glades requires a $5 park pass that you receive
after watching a safety video. The park has rails, spines and steps,
plus tabletops and jumps that range from 35 to 50 feet.
The Spruce Glades Terrain Garden at Snowshoe, a
beginner terrain park, has a few small rails, a funbox and small
snow features for aerials. Silver Creek's Mountaineer Terrain Garden
provides an introduction to riding rails and getting air for the
novice. |
