
Lessons at Snowbird (2007/08 prices)
Snowbird Mountain School founder Junior Bounous still skis the mountain, and still teaches (Junior's Silverwings for Skiers are for the "mature" skier, ages 55+, and run Tuesdays, December through February for $70 per session). Snowbird Mountain School has four one-stop locations for ski and snowboard school registration and buying lift tickets (tickets are not included in the lesson price). The offices are on Level 1 of the Cliff Lodge, the Plaza Deck of the Snowbird Center, the Cottonwood Room on Level 2 of the Snowbird Center and in the new Day Lodge in Gad Valley. Group lessons: 2.5-hour morning or afternoon Mountain Workshop sessions are open to skiers and riders of all experience levels and cost $80 each. Experts can take an all-day (10 a.m. to 4 .m.) Mountain Experience for $135.
First-timer package: First-time skiers and snowboarders get a 2.5-hour group lesson, lift ticket and rentals for $90. Two sessions on the same day cost $145.
Private lessons: A three-hour session is $375 for one person, $435 for 25 students; a six-hour session is $600 for one person, $700 for 25 students. Mountain guide services are available for the same costs as private lessons.
Special programs: Women's Ski & Women's Snowboard, Kristin Ulmer's Ski to Live, Dean Cummings Big Mountain Skiing and Snowboarding, and Wild Mountain Yoga are all multi-day camps.
