On the mountain, Selkirk Lodge, White Pine Lodge and Schweitzer Resort Condos (800-831-8810; $$$–$$$$) are all ski-in/ski-out properties with full amenities.

In downtown Sandpoint, lodging is inexpensive (many rooms less than $100 a night) and fairly basic. Try the four-room, lakeside Coit House B&B (866-265-2648; 265-4035; $$) for a romantic getaway that includes a hot breakfast. Right across the street, the same owners operate K-2 Inn (263-3441; $–$$), a no-smoking motel featuring rooms, suites and apartments with fridges and microwaves, plus a hot tub. La Quinta Inn (800-282-0660; 263-9581; $$) has 68 rooms, including three suites, serves a complimentary breakfast and welcomes pets.
