Sun Valley — Other activities

Snowmobiling is available through Smiley Creek Lodge (208-774-3547). Ice skating is available year-round on the Sun Valley Resort outdoor rink. Ice hockey fans can catch home games of the Sun Valley Suns three times a month.
Sun Valley Heli-Ski (208-622-3108) offers backcountry ski adventures for all levels of skiers. Paragliding with Fly Sun Valley (208-726-3332) gets you floating over the mountains. Ice fishing/fly fishing is offered by Silver Creek Outfitters (208-726-5282) and Lost River Outfitters (208-726-1706). There are also horse-drawn sleigh rides and dog sled tours.
The Sun Valley Athletic Club (208-726-3664) with daily and weekly rates is open to visitors
with child care, massage, aerobics, weights and swimming. Also try High Altitude Fitness (208-726-1959). Sacred Cow Yoga Studio (208-726-7018), next to the Sun Valley Garden Center, offers a variety of yoga and meditation at varying levels throughout the week.
Shopping opportunities are extensive. The Sun Valley Village is full of boutiques and shops offering everything from Bogner and jewels to handmade chocolates. A few shops worth highlighting: The Toy Store, for unique and educational toys from around the globe; Barry J. Peterson Jewelers, for Limoges collectors’ boxes, Lesäl ceramics and unique jewelry; The Country Cousin for low-priced accessories and gifts; and T. D. Bambino, where you can have fleece clothing custom-made. You can pick up some great bargains on secondhand items at the Gold Mine Thrift Shop, 331 Walnut Ave. Because this supports the The Community Library in Ketchum, residents give their (sometimes barely) used clothing and sporting goods to this store. By the way, the library is a gem. It has an amazing regional history section.
Sun Valley Center for the Arts has performances and showings during the ski season. For a schedule call 208-726-9491 or the Chamber & Visitors Bureau, 208-726-3423. Art galleries are another center of Ketchum and Sun Valley’s cultural life.

Sun Valley’s Art Gallery in the Village and 12 galleries in Ketchum are members of the Sun Valley Art Gallery Association (208-726-8180). They provide a beautiful brochure with a map and offer guided evening gallery walks about a dozen times during the year.
