Mt. Washington Valley — Apres-ski and nightlife
The legendary Red Parka Pub offers lively apres-ski and then nightlife activity into the wee hours. Something is happening every night, and its informal style runs to beer served in Mason jars to vintage skis and creative license plates covering the walls. When there is no live music, live comedy or a movie is often featured.
The place to be in Jackson is the Wildcat Tavern, or stop by Shannon Door for live entertainment and two-for-one pizzas.
For a mellow time and sipping a few beers, Tuckerman’s at the New England Inn, on Rte. 16A in Intervale, is gaining in popularity, as is the Moat Mountain Smokehouse and Brewery on Rte. 16 on the northern edge of North Conway.
On Friday and Saturday nights, Horsefeathers, in the center of North Conway, is standing-room only, and the Up Country Saloon has live dance music.
Locals hang out in Hooligans, Horsefeathers and Delaney’s Hole-in-the-Wall, all in North Conway.
For a quieter evening, try the Met coffee shop where acoustic performances, high-speed Internet access and tables for laptops and great art for sale makes it a nice alternative atmosphere.
After all the nightlife winds down, Yesterday’s in Jackson Village is a great greasy spoon spot for a recovery breakfast.
