Mt. Orford, Eastern Townships, Quebec, Canada

Mont Orford is a tree skier’s delight, but also offers loads of challenging terrain for all abilities.

Mont Orford is operated under a long-term lease on government land within Parc du Mont-Orford. The resort is spread across three separate mountain peaks and has fabulous terrain for all abilities. Adventurous skiers will be challenged here, and you’ll be completely surprised by that because at first glance, the mountain looks rather tame. The trails are long, giving skiers and riders maximum use of the vertical drop, and follow the contours of the mountain.

The glades are really tight woods, where trees may be thinned a bit but the mountain is left alone, like you’ll find at Eastern resorts such as Jay Peak and Mad River Glen, Vt. Certainly the best time to hit this mountain if you’re planning to check out the woods is when there’s fresh powder, so keep in mind that Orford, one of four resorts in the Eastern Townships region, gets fresh snow on days when nearby resorts may get rain.
