Cranmore — Parks and pipes
Mountain Layout—Snowboarding
Beginning and intermediate riders will find lots to enjoy on this mountain. Experts and advanced snowboarders can have a good time, but don’t expect much challenge.
There are perfect beginner trails, the South Slope, Beginner’s Luck, Snow Train and Outta Luck on the right-hand side looking up the mountain with beginning parks also located there.
The Rattlesnake Trail, to the rider’s right off the summit, which was widened and straightened a little over the years, still gives the feeling of snaking down the mountain. The Ledges (yes, the trail runs right over the granite of the Granite State) and Koessler trails, down the center and to the rider’s left, are the steepest at Cranmore. And for more challenge, head to the tight, but not too steep, Black Forest and Tree Meister glades from Rattlesnake and Kandahar.
Parks and pipes
The Darkside Terrain Park on Zip’s Trail has rails, jibs, jumps and boxes designed by the same folks who make the parks for the U.S. Open. The Darkside is home to the Jib Saw Massacre, a series of three snowboard and skiing competitions designed to introduce riders and skiers to the world of competition.
The Other Side Progression Park on South Slope has several small rails and boxes to help improve terrain park skills. And Lucky Loop to one side of Beginner’s Luck is designed for newbies to get the feel of a terrain park.
