Cranmore — Getting there and around
By air: The closest airport is Portland, Maine, with major airline service from all over the country. It is about a 90-minute drive from North Conway. Manchester Airport, in New Hampshire, is served by Southwest, US Air, MetroJet, United, Continental Express, ComAir and Business Express/Delta Connection, and is about a two-hour drive.
By car: The Mt. Washington Valley is 140 miles north of Boston. Take I-95 to Rte. 16, then north on 16/302. An alternate route is I-93 north to Rte. 104 to Rte. 25 to Rte. 16 and on to North Conway. From Portland, follow Rte. 302.
North Conway has been notorious for its weekend traffic jams going through town. The new North-South connector road offers a by-pass of all the Route 302 traffic (and shopping) for those coming from the south. From Route 302, turn right at Wal-Mart just before the shopping strip, or from Route 16, take a right at the junction with 302 and then a quick left before the Wal-Mart. Or, if you are driving from he Jackson/Wildcat/Attitash Bear Peak end of town to the south, take West Side Road to avoid most of the shopping traffic and the North Conway crowds.
Getting around: Bring a car.
