Cross-country and snowshoeing

Blackjack Cross Country Ski Club (250-362-7163), across the road, has 40 km. of trails. About 30 km. are groomed, both double-tracked and for skating. Trails wind past hemlock stands and frozen beaver ponds. The network has three shelters, including toilets, a first aid station and a cabin at the trailhead. Rentals and instruction are available through High Country Sports at the base of Red Resort.

The Cross-Country and Snowshoe Loop, accessible from the base area, connects to the Centennial Trail which winds its way from the mountain to Rossland's city center. Tracks are also set after snowfalls and open to cross-country skiers and snowshoers. Rentals are available through Red Resort's rentals.

Free cross-country skiing on tracks set after every snowfall is available 28 km. north of Rossland (on Hwy. 3B) in the Nancy Greene Provincial Park. The 45 km. of trails are maintained by the Castlegar Nordic Ski Club.
