At
the very top, the Summit Hut and Taynton Takeout wait for you to
enjoy the view of a thousand peaks. First-time visitors
can learn their way around with a free guide service. Here's
a trail map.
Expert/Advanced: The resort has almost 1,000
acres of backcountry-style terrain in Taynton Bowl. The bowl used
to be strictly heliskiing territory and provides loads of wide-open
and naturally gladed runs. The main chutes have more than 1,700
feet of vertical. Also head to Millennium (a fall-line run off the top of the
Champagne Express), the gladed Extreme Dream Zone and the wide-open
Sun Bowl. Tight Spots, Schobers Glades and Hideaway also ramp
up the fun meter.
Intermediate: Intermediates favor Alive Glades
and Sun Bowl. Some may think the one blue-square run from the summit
is appropriately named Getmedown. Most intermediates will want to
stay below the Summit Quad. Adventurous intermediates should test
themselves on the single-blacks lower on the mountain before heading
to the top.
Beginner/First-timer: Beginners should stick
to the learning area and the Mile 1 Quad Express to get comfortable
before trying any of the other chairlifts. The learning area, with
a platter, moving carpet and a chair, is in the lowlands, away from
the hubbub.
