The suites at the full-service, ski-in/ski-out Chateau Mont-Sainte-Anne (800-463-4467; 827-5211; $–$$$), next to the gondola base, is starting to show its “crow’s-feet” and could use some refurbishing. Rooms are spacious and all have balconies and kitchenettes; loft suites also have fireplaces. You’ll find a health club, indoor pool, hot tub and sauna, restaurants and lounges as well.

The family-friendly Hotel Val-des-Neiges (888-554-6005; 418-827-5711: $–$$) is five minutes from the base lodge (shuttles available to both Mont-Sainte-Anne and Le Massif) and has an indoor pool, whirlpool and sauna, lounge with deli menu, dining room and full-service spa. The hotel has whirlpool baths in most of its 200+ rooms.

For condominium lodging, try Chalets Mont-Ste-Anne (800-463-4395 or 827-5776; $–$$), next to the Chateau; the ski-in/ski-out Village Touristique Mont-Ste-Anne (800-463-7775; $$–$$$); the Swiss-style Chalets Montmorency (800-463-2612; $–$$$), 800 yards from the lifts and with a free shuttle; or the stone, Québécois-style Chalets Village (800-461-2030; $–$$$; above), each chalet with fireplace, double hot tub or sauna and multiple bedrooms and bathrooms. If you have need to house a large party, The Manor has 28 rooms.

You should also consider lodging in Québec City.
