Mountain LayoutSnowboarding
Most
riders come here for the freeriding. Off the Knob Chair, a 600-foot hike accesses freshies in Upper Basin. Or choose Peak Run to scoot over to the gully off High Traverse or Thunder
Bowl (carry your speed on this traverse). Don't
skip Charlie's Bowlthere are so many lines here,
it's possible to spend all day. Again, carry
your speed from the top of Knob Chair to the entrance of Charlie's
Bowl. There's a rather flat runout at the bottom, so you might
have to hoof it a bit on both ends.
Chalet Slope off the Eagle Ridge Chair is a vast
area of glades that will keep you challengedand grinning.
Powder lasts the longest over here. The chutes, bowl and glades
on Eagle East are a challenge with important warning
signs. Off the back side, is true backcountry terrain. The drop-ins to this area
can be intimidating and often require vertigo-inducing traverses. Pay attention
to boundary signs funneling you back toward the trails or you'll
have a long hike out.
The Outer Limits area off the back of Paradise Chair, the Whistler
Creek Trail is mainly flat, with some short uphill sections
so be forewarned. An adventure in this area may be more strenuous in the hiking than the sliding.
There's excellent glade
riding off Paradise Chair on Caribou Ridge. Off to skier's the right enjoy the trees in the
black Milk Run area and Caribou Knoll.
Further down the mountain, drop into woods off green-circle Old Road.
Intermediates have great choices all over the mountain.
There's very nice beginner terrain at the base of the mountain, served by a Platter lift which can be difficult for snowboarders.
Head higher up
the mountain via the Paradise and Kiefer chairs for the Marmot Terrain Park located on Marmot Run in the Upper Area.
Parks
and pipes
The terrain park is on Marmot Run in the upper
area of the mountain with tabletops,
hips, spines, rails, rollers and a quarterpipe. There's also a natural
quarterpipe on Marmot Run.
During early season, Marmot terrain park staff installs a smaller
rail park on an old road, just above the loading station of the
Eagle Ridge quad.
