Snowmobiles can be rented from Mammoth Snowmobile Adventures (934-9645), DJs Snowmobile Adventures (935-4480); or Mammoth Polaris (924-3155). The area has about 300 miles of snowmobile trails, some signed and groomed, others not. Bobsledding or tubing down a designated track is available through Sledz (934-7533). Dogsled rides are offered by Dog Sled Adventures (934-6270).

MAMMOTH'S OTHER ACTIVITIES AND PRICES

Peruse local artisans' crafts, photography and artwork at Edisto Gallery and Tea Room on Old Mammoth Road, Mammoth Gallery or Gallerie Barjur (next door to one another in the Village). Snowcreek Athletic Club (934-8511) has a variety of indoor and outdoor facilities including an indoor swimming pool, tennis courts, daily yoga classes and racquetball.

Don't be fooled into thinking that the only shopping exists in the Village. Mammoth's shopping is oriented as much for the local population as for tourists. You won't find many trendy boutiques here, though there is a factory outlet center on Main Street, and many small shopping malls scattered throughout town.

Mammoth Lakes also has two movie theaters (one with two screens), Minaret Cinemas and Plaza Theater (both at 934-3131). The Mammoth Times, the local weekly newspaper, is a good source for special events listings.
