The Blueberry Lake Cross Country Ski Center (496-6687) has 23 km. of trails, beginner to expert, groomed for skate skiing and classic. Dogs are permitted. Ole's Cross-Country Center (496-3430; near the airport) has 50 km. of groomed trails on rolling terrain. Ole's also has snowshoeing and a Rossignol demo center. The Inn at the Round Barn Farm (496-2276) cross-country area, with 15 km. of groomed trails, is linked with Ole's. Vermont Pack & Paddle (496-7225) offers backcountry ski clinics and tours, snowshoe tours and cabin dinner tours.

Mad River Glen (496-3551) has anout 5 miles of snowshoe trails on the mountain. These trails connect with Vermont's famed Long Trail. Guided naturalist programs are offered every weekend. These include full-moon snowshoe treks, an evening naturalist series, slide shows and other events. Snowshoe treks are available from the summit of Sugarbush’s Mount Ellen to Lincoln Peak (583-0381). Free, guided treks begin at the base of Lincoln Peak.

You can arrange snowshoe treks through Clearwater Sports (496-2708). Carol Thompson, of Out Back Tracks (496-3153), tells how to recognize animal tracks and interpret animal behaviors on personalized, guided snowshoe expeditions.

Snowshoers who want to strike out on their own can take advantage of a variety of backcountry trails in the region. A trail map is available from the Sugarbush Chamber of Commerce.
