Getting there
By
air: Calgary International Airport is your gateway to Kicking
Horse Mountain Resort, which is about 3 hours west along the Trans
Canada Highway in Golden, B.C. The airport is served by all major
airlines.
The airport shuttle is operated by Pure Travel Group which offers luxury service including leather seats, DVDs, complimentary soft drinks, pillows and blankets along with resort information such as trail maps and the local magazine for Kicking Horse. Call toll free from N. America 1-866-666-6086; from other countries 1-250-439-1800. www.puretravelgroup.com
By bus: A daily bus shuttle
service goes from the Calgary Airport to Calgarys Greyhound
depot, where you can catch a bus to Golden. Call (888) 438-2992
for the airport shuttle details and schedules.
The Powder Express bus (800-644-8888; 403-762-4554)
goes from Banff and Lake Louise hotels to Kicking Horse for a day
trip; cost includes bus ride and lift ticket.
By
car: If you rent a car at the airport, life gets much easier.
From Calgary, take the Trans Canada Highway and travel west, past
Banff and Lake Louise to Golden, about a 3-hour drive along a scenic
route. The pass through the Rockies can be treacherous in bad weather,
so be sure to check road conditions. Follow signs to Golden Town
Centre.
Getting
around: Snow Shuttles run from Golden accommodations to the
resort for C$6. A one-way taxi ride between Golden and the resort
is costly. Be sure to have the correct Canadian currency for fare
or youll be charged a lot more in American dollarsthe
cabbies dont seem to have a handle on the exchange thing.
Its easy to get around by car and we recommend one so you
can explore this beautiful region.
