Child
care: Ages 6 weeks to 6 years. Full-day program costs $115 (booked in advance) or $140 (walk-in); half-day, morning or afternoon, costs $100 (booked n advance) or $125 (walk-in). Lunch included except in afternoon class. Ski instruction/day-care combo programs also are available for ages 3 and older. Reservations required; call 800-HEAVENLY one to two months in advance. The child-care center is only at the California base.
Other options: If
you need non-skiing child care, Bright Beginnings (775-588-5437)
is a state-licensed day-care center in Stateline (just north of
the casinos) for ages 6 weeks to 12 years. The center is open MondaySaturday,
8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m., and the staff is very friendly. Reservations
are required. The child-care centers at Heavenly (775-586-7000)
and Kirkwood (209-258-7274) both have a list of babysitters,
but expect to pay $15/hour for a sitter. Baby's Away (800-446-9030;
530-544-2229) rents and will deliver baby items (cribs, strollers,
toys, etc.) to your hotel or condo anywhere in the Lake Tahoe area.
Children's
lessons: Full day for ages 413 costs $155, including instruction, rentals, helmet, lunch and lift access. Ages 713 can take snowboard lessons for the same price. Reservations for full-day programs are highly recommended; call 800-HEAVENLY.
Children can get "private" clinics for $495 for a full day or $325 for a half day. Lessons include up to six people
