Cross-country and snowshoeing

Fernie Alpine Resort has 10 km. of trails in a figure-eight loop, good for both skating and classic. Trail usage is free. Lessons and guided cross-country tours are available. Fernie does not rent equipment, so bring your own. You also can cross-country ski at the Fernie Golf & Country Club, where trails are beginner to intermediate.

Guided snowshoe tours with a naturalist are a great aerobic workout, plus you'll be entertained with local legends and lore. Did you know that Fernie burned down twice and you can see exactly where those fires stopped on the mountain by looking at the tree growth? Book through Guest Services.

The network of mountain biking trails found throughout Fernie are excellent for snowshoeing. Pick up a copy of the trail guide at local retailers.
