Big Sky, Montana

Getting there

By air: Bozeman Gallatin Field Airport is served by Horizon Air, United Express, Delta, Northwest and Big Sky Airlines. The resort is an hour from the airport. Car rentals are available at the airport. Karst 4X4 Stage (800-287-4759; 406-556-3540) shuttles passengers between the airport, the resort and West Yellowstone. If you're staying in a condo and don't plan to rent a car, call Mountain Taxi (800-423-4742), fax them your grocery list, and they'll do your shopping before you arrive, then transport you from the airport to your condo.

By car: The resort is 45 miles south of Bozeman (and 50 miles north of West Yellowstone) on Hwy. 191 along the Gallatin River.

Getting around: If you stay at the Mountain Village, a car is unnecessary unless you plan to do a lot of sightseeing. A free shuttlebus runs between the Big Sky villages 7a.m.–11 p.m., starting in mid-December through the winter.
