Attitash in the Mt. Washington Valley, NH

Mountain Layout—Snowboarding

With a the ATP (Attitash Terrain Parks & Pipe) initiative underway, Attitash now offers a great mix of freeriding and carving, with some rider-friendly tree runs thrown in for good measure.

Bear Peak is best for freeriding, carving and glades. Illusion has great rollers and whoop-de-doos, while Avenger is great for speed runs. If you’re looking for challenge, head into the glades.

The transitions between Attitash and Bear Peak are the only flat areas. When riding from Attitash to Bear Peak, avoid Bearback and ride the Abenaki quad instead. When riding from Bear Peak to Attitash, avoid Bear Right to Stonybrook. Instead, when you see the bridge, take Bear Notch Pass to Stonybrook Bypass. Here, it’s worth it to unstrap and walk the 50 feet to the top of the bypass. From there on, it’s all downhill.

ATP - Attitash Terrain Parks & Pipe
The ATP Freeride program consists of the ATP Fly Zone Terrain Park on Thad's Choice, ATP Training Ground - an introductory Park on Far Out, the ATP Stunt Ditch Superpipe (weather-permitting -- call ahead) and ATP Freeride Series. ATP brings snowboarding all the way from an afterthought to the forefront of Attitash's marketing strategy.

The easiest access to the park on Thad's Choice is via the East and West double chairlifts or from the summit; avoid trying to get there from the quad, it’s a lot of hoofing along a flat cat walk. The park has a nice variety of medium to large (up to 47') sized elements, jibs and rails. The introductory park on Far Out trail benefits from a newly installed snowmaking line early season. Attitash employs a full-time park and halfpipe groomer as well as park rangers who patrol these areas.
