Child care: Ages 6 months to 10 years. At Little Bears Playhouse in nearby Girdwood, children ages 6 to 14 months cost $30 for a half day and $45 for a full day. Kids 15 months to 35 months are $27 for a half day, $41 for a full day. For children ages 3 to 10, the cost is $25 for a half-day, $39 for a full day. An up-to-date immunization record and a complete physical exam signed by a doctor are required. Reservations are a must; call (907) 783-2116 or ask when you reserve lodging. Little Bears is open 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays, through the ski season (closed on Sundays). Babysitting is no longer available at the resort.

Children’s lessons: Cubs and Super-Cubs cater to ages 3–4 learning to ski; Mini-Riders is for ages 5–7 learning to snowboard. Cost is $45, including lift ticket, one-hour lesson and rental; available only on weekends, holidays and Anchorage School District spring break. Group lessons for ages 5–13 for skiing and 8–13 for snowboarding are offered daily. A two-hour lesson, all-day lift ticket and rental package ranges from $55–$60, depending on ability level. If you don't need rentals, ask about discounted pricing.
